Ptr. Rene was born in Manila on November 12, 1967. His elementary, high school, and college years were spent in Imus, Cavite. He finished his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1988. Married to Luisita (Sis. Cita), they are blessed with two children: Hephzibah Cirene (Ivah) and Ephraim Rene (Ren-Ren).

Ptr. Rene was in grade 6 when he started hearing Bible stories from a classmate who was attending Sunday School at a Christian Church. It was the same classmate who gave him a Bible through which God revealed Himself and became instrumental to his salvation in Christ on February 28, 1979.

After college, he worked by managing a Christian bookstore for five and a half years. In 1999, he completed his Bachelor of Theology in Biblical Studies at the Philippine Missionary Institute (PMI) at Silang, Cavite. After which he served as a full-time pastor at Imus Unida Church. He got married in 2000 and in 2002, he filed for study leave and came up to Baguio with his family to pursue graduate studies at Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (APTS). He completed his Master of Arts in Ministry in 2003.
