Robert Casas

Ptr. Robbie was born in Manila on January 20, 1961. He graduated with a degree in Business Management from Ateneo de Manila University. Happily married to Sis. Mavie for 34 years (as of this writing), they are blessed with four children and two grandchildren: Mons (married to Rae, with whom he has twin boys, Rio and Teo), Migs, Chrissy, all professionals in their respective fields, and Corinne, who is a first-year college at the University of the Philippines, Baguio.

When he was in 3rd year high school, a group of Baptists shared the gospel with him. Seven years later, he spoke with his Christian aunt who invited him to a Bible study where he once again heard the gospel, and on January 5, 1985, he finally surrendered his life to Christ. At the height of his professional career which took him in the path of being an Executive Assistant in a tourism consultancy firm, then an English and Socio-Economics teacher at the Ateneo High School, then a Human Resource Development Consultant, then a Commercial and Studio photographer, and businessman, and finally as a General Manager of a multi-national para-legal support firm, he decided to leave the secular life in 1989 to heed the call to serve God in full-time ministry as a pastor in his former church.

After the July 1990 earthquake in Northern Luzon, Ptr. Robbie was assigned to Baguio as an Outreach Pastor. Six years later, however, his former church chose to take a new direction in ministry which seriously undermined the gospel message and the sufficiency of Scripture. This caused Ptr. Robbie to resign from the church and to start a new church to continue pursuing biblical ministry.

It was then that in 1996 Guiding Light Christian Church was founded.
